Materials
Rethinking what sportswear is made of.
Two fibres carry most of our collection: TENCEL™ Lyocell made from wood and organic cotton (kbA). Here's why – and what they do for you.
What is the best material for this particular piece – and how can we make it better?
For us, it's not about finding one perfect fabric. It's about questioning every component of a garment – from the main fibre to the thread, print and finish.
We choose materials by performance, feel, durability, origin and environmental impact.
Why TENCEL™ Lyocell?
Performance inspired by nature.
TENCEL™ Lyocell is a cellulose fibre made from wood. It feels smooth and soft on the skin, takes up moisture and releases it again – properties made for training, movement and everyday life.

Soft
A smooth fibre surface that feels gentle on the skin – nothing scratches, nothing clings.
Breathable
The fibre has a high moisture uptake and releases moisture to the outside again – for a higher perceived thermal comfort while you move.
Fresh feel
Moisture is absorbed into the fibre instead of staying on its surface. This leaves less favourable conditions for odour-causing bacteria than synthetic fibres such as polyester.
Wood-based
Made from wood – a natural, renewable raw material from certified (FSC® or PEFC) or controlled sources.
From tree to T-shirt
How the fibre is made.
Responsibly sourced wood
Everything starts with wood from certified (FSC® or PEFC) or controlled sources.
Turned into pulp
The wood is processed into cellulose pulp – the raw material for the fibre.
Dissolved and spun
The pulp is dissolved in an organic solvent and spun into fibres. The solvent is recovered and fed back into the loop.
>99.8 %of the solvent is recovered
From fibre to your piece
The fibres are spun into yarn and knitted into fabric – which we cut and sew into your piece in Berlin.
Back to nature
TENCEL™ Lyocell fibres are certified biodegradable and compostable (TÜV AUSTRIA). Please note: threads, prints and blended yarns in a finished garment can behave differently.
Organic cotton (kbA)
The natural classic.
kbA stands for kontrolliert biologischer Anbau – controlled organic farming. We use organic cotton where its properties make sense: for hoodies, relaxed silhouettes and pieces where a natural feel and robustness are an advantage.
-
01
No synthetic pesticides
Organic farming does without chemical-synthetic pesticides and fertilisers. Pests are managed with natural methods.
-
02
No GMO seeds
Genetically modified seed is not allowed in organic cultivation.
-
03
Living soil
Crop rotation and natural fertilisers such as compost keep the soil fertile.
-
04
Independently inspected
Organic farms are inspected regularly by independent control bodies.
Organic vs. conventional cotton
- Pesticides
- Conventional: Chemical-synthetic pesticides are commonly used.
- Organic (kbA): No chemical-synthetic pesticides.
- Fertiliser
- Conventional: Synthetic mineral fertilisers are common.
- Organic (kbA): Natural fertilisers such as compost and manure.
- Seeds
- Conventional: Genetically modified seed is widely used.
- Organic (kbA): No genetically modified seed.
- Control
- Conventional: No organic inspection.
- Organic (kbA): Regular inspections by independent control bodies.

Every detail counts
It doesn't stop at the fabric.
For our sewing threads we currently use recycled polyester where strength and durability require it. Our next step: renewable alternatives for threads, prints, finishes and trims.
Our material principles
Choose better. Use less. Keep exploring.
-
Natural where possible
We prioritise natural, cellulose-based and renewable fibres where they make functional sense.
-
Recycled where necessary
Where synthetics are hard to replace, we look for recycled alternatives.
-
Performance matters
A garment only makes sense if it performs, lasts and gets worn.
-
Always improving
Material innovation never stops. Neither do we.
We're not claiming the perfect material exists.
We're working towards it.
